Kris-Way is quickly finding success in Southern, NH. Just a short year and a half ago Kris-Way was just getting started in the Manchester marketplace. At the time it seemed like it might be a tough road given the economy. But we forged ahead confident that the Manchester, Nashua, Concord marketplace was in need of a strong independent leasing company.

With fewer than 10 full service lease vehicles we opened Kris-Way Manchester in 2009. Fast forward to January 2011 and we now are approaching 200 pieces of equipment under lease or maintenance. Our Manchester facility has increased hours of service and Kris-Way now has service capabilities in Concord.

Studies done nationally have shown that for every $100 spent locally, $45 is returned to the local economy. On the other hand, for every $100 spent at national chains, only $13 of economic impact was felt in local economies. A similar study was done right here in Maine in 2003 in the Mid Coast Region. The economic impact of consumer spending at eight local businesses was contrasted with the impact generated by spending at eight national chain stores. The results showed that 44.6% of the dollars stayed in the surrounding Maine counties, while an additional 8.7% was spent state wide. Only 14.1% of the money spent at the chain stores stayed in Maine. 

National studies have also shown that just as little as a 10% increase in local spending spurs job creation. A Portland study in 2006 found that a 10% increase in local spending would result in an increase in $50 million in revenue in Greater Portland and 600 additional jobs. Local businesses proportionally tend to employ more local labor and buy more local goods than national competitors. Local businesses are located right here in our state, don’t operate from remote headquarters, and contribute more to local charities at a rate of 4 to 1. Local businesses contribute more to state and local taxes.
